Information on Becoming a MemberHome > Inviting > Join Saint Peter Lutheran Church (Modified: Wednesday October 29, 2008 at 03:50)New Member Retreats"Our Life Together in Christ; A Retreat for Membership in the Christian Church" The purpose of this one and one-half day retreat is to provide a time for people to hear the essential message of the Christian faith and to share the significance of that message with other Christians. It is intended for people who wish to become part of the Church and this congregation through baptism, or through affirmation of faith. It may also be used for those members who wish to better understand their Christian faith. Those who are interested in becoming members at Saint Peter are asked to attend this retreat. On Sunday, the day after the retreat, New Members will be formally received into our fellowship during the morning worship services. Overview of the WeekendThe outline of this weekend is based on the historic order for Christian worship. This will provide a useful framework for speaking about what it means to live the Christian life, and it will also help the participants to understand the order of worship that is used on a regular basis in this congregation. The entire retreat takes place in Saint Peter's facility at 9300 East Belleview Avenue. Refreshments will be provided (Friday snacks; Saturday continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day). All materials needed for the retreat will be provided — you need not worry about bringing anything with you. On Friday evening, a nursery will be provided for younger children. Older children (Elementary and Middle School) are invited to an evening of study and conversation in the Youth Room. Youth in High School are encouraged to participate with the Adults. During the day on Saturday, childcare will be provided for the youngest members of the family. It is recommended that Elementary and Middle School students spend the day with friends or family. When that isn’t feasible, they are welcome to spend the day in our facility — please let us know and we’ll make arrangements. We encourage you to participate in this retreat and consider making Saint Peter Lutheran Church your official home congregation. It is hoped that you will find this time together to be relaxing, inspiring, and informative. Welcome!
