StPLC Property Cleanup Day TOMORROW
Please join the StPLC Property Team for a lawn cleanup day on Saturday, August 3rd (tomorrow) from 8:00 a.m. until noon. We will be trimming shrubs, clearing weeds and preparing flower beds to plant in September. Tools are needed so please bring wheel barrows, loppers, hand trimmers, shovels, rakes and brooms if you’ve got them. A big thanks to everyone who has helped us in the past. It's our hope that this will be another fruitful day!
Screening of ‘Wild Hope’
Are you concerned about climate change and the future of our planet? On Wednesday, August 14th at 6:00 p.m., Christ the King Lutheran Church (2300 S. Patton Court, Denver, CO 80219) together with Grow Local Colorado, is hosting a potluck dinner and screening of the documentary, “Wild Hope.” This new film tells the story of our deep spiritual connection to the natural world, a connection that has the power to rewire our brains, take us back to our deepest roots, and change how we think and act in a world needing our care. Please join us and the executive producer of the film, Suez Jacobson, for a night of learning, conversation and hope. More information about the film is available here.
Jeanne Maloney will be attending the event and would love to extend the invite to you.
Blessing of the Backpacks and All-Church Brunch
On Sunday, August 25th, there will be one service at 9:00 a.m. where students of all ages are asked to bring their backpacks for a blessing during service. Afterwards, everyone is invited to the annual All-Church Brunch. Bring your best brunch dish to share and enjoy a bouncy house, ice cream truck and maybe even a water fight! Please invite friends, family and neighbors!
New Season of Theater and Theology Begins
The new season of Theater and Theology will start up again in September. Theater and Theology is a ministry of the Rocky Mountain Synod in which participating congregations enjoy a special arrangement with the Theater Company of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA), where after viewing a performance together we engage cast members in a moderated talkback on theological issues in each play. All Saint Peter members are invited to join in a fun night out at the theater together. We receive a reduced ticket price of just $35 per performance. All performances are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
The first play of the new season is “Indecent”, on Tuesday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the Space Theater (in-the-round). If you are interested in participating, please sign up on the sheet on the door in the Narthex before Sunday, August 18th. Once we have our group, we will make plans for dinner and carpooling. Learn more about “Indecent” here.
Covenant Cupboard Toy Project Leader Needed
Saint Peter hosts the Covenant Cupboard Christmas gift project every year, assisted by the other churches who sponsor the Covenant Cupboard food pantry. On Friday, December 6th and Friday, December 13th, parents will come and select a gift and a stuffed stocking for each child age 12 and under so that they may give their children presents at Christmas. It’s a project that brings great joy to client families as well as those who host the distribution!
We’re looking for at least two leaders for this project, or we may be unable to host it this year. Karyl Meyer will mentor the leaders and provide many materials and contacts to help the distribution run smoothly. Please consider helping lead this wonderful Christmas gift project. Call Karyl to learn more about it.
