This Sunday! 9:00 a.m. Worship + God’s Work Our Hands

Reminder that this Sunday is “God’s Work. Our Hands.” Wear your yellow shirt (There are extras in the Narthex if you need one.) and be ready for Worship at 9:00 a.m. (The only worship service of the day.) Fellowship and most projects start immediately after. Childcare will be available on-site.

If you haven’t signed up yet, do so here. If you aren’t available Sunday morning, please consider serving dinner at The Delores Project on Sunday evening and/or bringing in donated items for the Welcome Baskets we will be creating for newly arriving refugees through Lutheran Family Services. Fall Property Cleanup Saturday

Come join the StPLC Property Team for a fall cleanup event on this Saturday, September 28th from 9 a.m. to noon. The crew will be removing weeds, trimming bushes and continuing work on the sprinkler system. Contact Dave Prichard with questions and concerns.

All-Church Event October 3rd

As a follow up to the spring’s Time & Talent Appeal, Saint Peter is hosting an all-church event on Thursday, October 3rd at 6:00 p.m. to discuss how our church can create an even richer and more faithful experience for the entire community. Please plan to attend!

Sunday Morning Faith Forum Focusing On Inspired

Faith Forum is taking a break this week for God’s Work Our Hands Sunday and will reconvene next week continuing to explore Rachel Held Evans’ book Inspired.  Last Sunday was an opportunity to look at Deliverance Stories.  The stories about times when God makes a way when there seems to be no way.  The discussion centered around how we make meaning of those stories in our lives by paying attention to the narrative context in which they are written.  Evans challenged us to question, “Are we reading with the prejudice of love, with Christ as our model, or are we reading with the prejudice of judgment and power, self-interest and greed?  Are we seeking to enslave or liberate, burden or set-free?”

If you don’t have time to read the book, please come anyway.  A brief chapter overview will be provided before the discussion begins.  Grab a cup of coffee and a friend and come to Covenant Hall from 9:40 am until 10:30 am.  

StPLC Has A High School Youth Group!

A small team of parents and youth have joined forces to plan group activities for Saint Peter High School Youth. For now, the plan is to meet monthly in each other’s homes, as well as attend the Rainbow Trail High School retreat and to pull off another mission trip in 2020. If you or a highschooler you know would be interested in participating in any of these activities, please contact Jeanne Maloney.

Job Opening: Part-time Case Worker For The Village Resource Center

The Village Resource Center is an inter-faith non-profit in Greenwood Village which provides financial assistance and referrals to people in financial need. Our focus is rental assistance. We are looking for a six-hour a week case manager to answer calls and meet with individuals on Friday afternoons to assess needs. Experience in case management preferred. We are looking for someone with a compassionate heart, excellent follow-through, and good communication skills with individuals and groups. Salary based on experience. Covenant Cupboard Thanksgiving Food Items Needed

Covenant Cupboard will be distributing 200 Thanksgiving meals on November 22nd and needs your help collecting non-perishable items. If you are able, the next time you are at the store, please pick up a few of the following:

• Box/bag stuffing mix

• Canned vegetables

• Canned yams

• Canned cranberries or cranberry sauce

• Canned or packaged turkey gravy mix

• Packaged side dish (rice mix, mac n cheese, applesauce)

• Dessert items (packaged cake, pie, pudding)

Financial contributions to assist with purchasing butter, eggs, potatoes and turkey are welcome, too. Checks can be made out to Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry. If you have questions, contact Laura Guthals.
