8:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharist Worship Service Begins This Sunday
The Saturday Evening Eucharist Worship Service is moving to Sunday at 8:00 a.m. effective this coming weekend (Sunday, August 15th). Online worship will continue at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday and 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday.
Sunday Morning Eucharist takes place in the courtyard at Saint Peter, beginning at 8:00 a.m. (weather permitting), with three seating options for those who prefer less distancing, more distancing, and stricter distancing. We continue to practice no-touch communion, and worshippers are invited to drop their offerings off in the locked and secured mailbox near the office entrance. Participants are invited to bring bread and wine (or crackers and juice), or use one of the sealed communion kits provided by Saint Peter.
All worshippers are asked to wear face masks when they are on the premises and to be considerate of those who are maintaining physical distance from others. We will continue to monitor the presence of the coronavirus in our community and will adjust this guidance as necessary.
Attendance is currently limited to 50 worshippers per service. A sign-up link will be provided on Saint Peter’s main web page by Tuesday evening. If we reach capacity, those who place their name on the waiting list will be contacted if there is a cancellation, or be given priority to sign up for the following Sunday.
Musical recordings from Saint Peter’s Worship Band will invite worshippers into a time of reflection during worship. At this time the assembly is not encouraged to sing along. Congregational singing will be re-introduced to our worship at a later date.
This worship folder is available at www.StPLC.org. Look for Sunday Morning Eucharist under Upcoming Events. In the event of severe weather, updates will be posted at www.StPLC.org.
Environmental Documentary - Before the Flood - Saturday, August 21st
Please join the Faith in Action team for a viewing and discussion of "Before the Flood." This 90-minute documentary by National Geographic features Leonardo DiCaprio on a journey as a United Nations messenger of peace, traveling to five continents and the Arctic to witness climate change firsthand. "Before the Flood" presents a riveting account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change, as well as the actions we as individuals and as a society can take to prevent the disruption of life on our planet.
We will gather on the labyrinth on Saturday, August 21st at 7:30 p.m. to watch the film and have discussion afterwards. You are invited to come early for in-person outdoor worship that begins at 6:30 p.m. and stick around to catch up with friends after church as we make our way to the labyrinth to start the documentary.
We are all trying to do our part to make a difference. You are encouraged to identify one or two examples of what you and your family are doing to care for our earth. We can all share what little or big impacts we are making and learn from one another. There is No Planet B.
RSVP by emailing fia@stplc.org.

Save the date! Let’s welcome the kids back to school on Sunday, September 12th during worship. We will bless the backpacks AND distribute prizes for summer bingo. More details to come!
StPLC College Student Mentoring
Family Ministries tapped a few extraordinary humans right here in our own congregation to mentor a few recent high school grads on their journey into college life. This is a supportive, loving thing for these kids who have been through so much over their junior and senior years of high school. (Thanks a lot, COVID.)
Sometimes it’s just the knowledge that you are accompanying from a young person that makes a difference. Being away from home and being at school can be isolating sometimes, but a listening ear or quick text or note can be just what is needed.
If you would like to send a note (or a drawing or other thoughtful gift) to one of our eight college-bound youth, please let Miss Mary (mpratt@stplc.org) know.

Featured Picture Book: The Earth Book
This month, Family Ministries is featuring Todd Parr’s picture book entitled The Earth Book (https://bit.ly/3rE5W46). It includes 10 simple, practical household-friendly ideas to help our earth and how each one positively impacts our planet. For example, using both sides of your paper and bringing your own reusable bag for groceries is a way of showing love for trees! Turning off lights when not needing them is a way of showing love and care for polar bears!
This book is one of many under the Caring category of Miss Mary’s Booklist of picture book recommendations. Here’s the link: https://bit.ly/3A0kbU7
