Pastoral Transition Update

Interim Pastor Michael Mortvedt will begin his role as Interim Pastor at Saint Peter on April 20th. Pastor Vera's last day is April 24th.

Plan To Be Onsite For April 24th Worship

If you are able, plan to attend worship onsite at Saint Peter on Sunday, April 24th, for a very big Sunday. Pastor Vera will be ending her time as Saint Peter’s bridge pastor and Pastor Michael will be joining us as our interim pastor.

In addition, we will celebrate the Affirmation of Baptism for the catechism class and four of our young ones will participate in their First Communion. Immediately after worship, StPLC Council is hosting a celebration brunch for all. Bring your appetites!

A Letter From Pastor Michael

I have served congregations in California, Colorado, South Dakota and Wyoming. Most recently I finished an Interim call in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I am a graduate with Honors of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California, and I am trained as an Intentional Interim Minister. I am also certified as a spiritual director through the Vincentian Center for Spirituality and Work and have served as the Chair of Spiritual Direction Colorado.

My wife, Sandy Olson, is an ELCA Deacon and she has served in congregations in the areas of music ministry and Christian education. While in Colorado, we teamed up the congregations we served to build homes in Juarez, Mexico, through Casa Por Cristo. We have also hosted refugee families from Rwanda and Afghanistan.

We have four grown children and six grandchildren in fun places to visit and we also enjoy camping, bicycling, gardening, and other outdoor activities; especially being walked by our new Norwegian Elkhound puppy, Inge.

Between interim calls, I participated in a 200-mile bicycle tour of Southern Arizona and have ridden across South Dakota several times and from northern Colorado to El Paso to raise funds for prison ministry and the ELCA World Hunger ministry. Sandy and I are looking forward to being part of the Saint Peter Lutheran Church community.

Spring Clean Up Property Work Days Apr 23 And May 14

The StPLC Property Team invites you to help with two spring cleanup days around the church property on April 23 and May 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Stay as long as you can.

We'll pick up the trash that has accumulated over the winter, weed the flower beds by the front entrance, the labyrinth and the church sign, and rake up needles along Belleview and elsewhere. We'll also spread mulch under the new spruce tree at the west entrance and by the neighbor’s tennis courts.

We invite everyone to bring loppers, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, trash bags, etc. All ages are welcome. We look forward to making the outside of the church as inviting as the inside.

Next All Ages LIFT (Living In Faith Together) On May 1st

LIFT won’t be meeting again until May 1st because the 4th Sunday in April is full of other exciting opportunities (see above).

All are welcome whether you’ve attended this all-ages faith formation event before or not. If you attend onsite, we begin in the Worship Center immediately after worship and move to small groups in various parts of the building.

• MAY 22 Wrap-Up Celebration, hopefully outside

New Shared Library In The Fellowship Hall

Next time you are in the church building, take a look in the Fellowship Hall at the bookshelves in the southeast corner of the room. Saint Peter staff culled the volumes of books collected over the years to display only those books you’re likely to enjoy.

You are welcome to borrow a book anytime. You’re also welcome to donate a book or two. Please place donations in the box in the Fellowship Hall so staff can find a place on the shelves. Right now, we could use more current books for older children and teens.

High School Youth Invited To Support Those In Ukraine On May 14

WHAT: Sorting and packing medical supplies to be sent directly to Ukraine

WHERE: Project CURE at 10377 E Geddes Ave. Centennial 80112

WHEN: Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m.-noon

WHO: High school youth aged 15 and older

WHY: For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. – Matthew 25:35
