ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET
Sunday Oct 15 marked the beginning of Saint Peter’s 2024 Stewardship Appeal. Our theme is “Rolling Out The Red Carpet.” How can we open our hearts and take inspired steps to make everyone who comes to Saint Peter feel like a VIP? How can we give regulars and newcomers alike the red-carpet treatment? How can we at Saint Peter Lutheran Church be a more hospitable, inclusive reflection of Christ? Let’s roll out the red carpet and show the world that Saint Peter Lutheran Church is an extravagantly loving, inviting place where all are welcome.
For the next few Sundays, you will hear from a few of those who are involved in StPLC ministries that are all about the welcome. You’ll also be receiving a letter in the mail this week and again in a few more weeks informing you of other important Stewardship Appeal details, including how to make your 2024 financial commitment. Your generosity will help us become a more hospitable place where all are welcomed into God’s Love, just as we are, and sent into God’s world as a reflection of Christ.
In the Narthex, help yourself to the photo wall where you can take your own red-carpet photos! On December 3rd, we will gather together after Worship for fellowship and thanks.
FAITH FORUM CONTINUES
Last Sunday we learned that values-based conversations can help us find shared hopes for our country and produce outcomes that have the most informed impact. As we seek solutions to the challenges of our time, we should aim to do so in a way that is always loving, liberating, and life-giving, even through disagreements.
This Sunday is our final class in the Civil Discourse series with a focus on creating sacred space to have these difficult conversations. The preparation for civil discourse takes discipline and work, especially given the growing divisions in our society along political and other lines. Repairing these divides and preserving this sacred space for debate takes effort, resolve, patience and faith. This Sunday morning we will spend some time creating our own Civility Covenant for Saint Peter. All are invited to come join the conversation even if you have not been able to attend the other sessions. Our Covenant will lay the foundation for how we continue our ongoing approach to loving and respecting one another, even when we disagree.
Please stay after worship and join Pastor Mike in the Fellowship Hall and on Zoom. Childcare is available for children in elementary school and younger.
SUNDAY FUNDAY UPDATES
This Sunday, we will discover how we can be generous givers to God through serving others with our Time, Talent, and Treasure. Please help us continue to make Blessing Bags for the Unhoused, by dropping off your gifts of soft granola bars, travel size soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste. As it gets colder, hand and feet warmers and new warm socks are Treasures that are much appreciated. Show love for ALL God’s children by taking a Blessing Bag or two to give to someone needing practical items and love.
Please remember to bring back your Family Page each week!
THE NURSERY IS OPEN
All parents/guardians are required to fill out a registration form before leaving their child/ren. Nursery during church is for infants through age 5 only. Care provided during Faith Forum expands to include kids in elementary school. Parents/Guardians of children needing supervision after worship must go to the nursery to sign in with the nursery attendant. There will be a graham cracker snack for kids who are staying for extended hours on Sundays. Guardians must sign children in and out.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR REHEARSALS
Calling all Kids K-8! Sunday Children’s Choir rehearsals are after church for about 30 minutes to prepare music for the Advent and Christmas seasons.
