A LITANY FOR JUNETEENTH

Celebration rises, recognizing what has been done and left undone,
knowing there is still and yet much to do, so much further to go.
Celebration rises, naming the victories, recognizing the challenges yet ahead.
Celebration rises on voices offering unfinished praise.
Lest our feet stray from the places,
our God where we met thee;
lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world we forget thee;

Celebration rises, resisting illusions,
to be embraced by the real and abiding presence of God who breaks our chains,
and sets us free for freedom, in power and love and joy.
God of our weary years, God of our silent tears
thou who hast brought us thus far on our way;
thou who has by thy might led us into the light,
keep us forever in the path, we pray.

Celebration rises, with the power of healing wings and promise to endure.
Celebration rises, celebrating that by God’s grace,
I am because You are, You are because I am;
Celebrating that the fullness of my humanity does not diminish yours
and the fullness of your humanity does not diminish mine.
Shadowed beneath thy hand may we forever stand, true to our God …
True to who we are, True to who we have been and who we are becoming,
thanks be to God.

Whether you’re looking to fill some spare time, meet people, gain new skills, or make a lasting tangible difference in the community, you’ll be able to experience first-hand what it’s like to be a Core Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. During this special week Habitat for Humanity will host several events to find out if Habitat's Core Volunteer Program is right for you. These include designated volunteer days at our ReStores where you can volunteer in a position of your choice (positions include Cashiering, Floor and Customer Service, Dock Assistance and more!).

GOD’S WORK. OUR HANDS. SEPTEMBER 8

We want to provide multiple opportunities for members of all ages to serve the community – activities suitable for small children and older adults to activities that are better for teens and adults. If you would like to make sure that we live up to our mission statement, “Welcomed, just as we are. Sent, to be a reflection of God’s love,” please prayerfully consider if you can help with this amazing ministry! Can you help to organize or publicize it? Do you have great ideas for projects? Contact a council member and let us know (council@stplc.org)!

SEND MAIL TO RAINBOW TRAIL CAMPERS

We have lots of Rainbow Trail Campers this summer who would enjoy receiving a note from YOU! The most reliable way to send a note is by email. Here’s how: Go to www.rainbowtrail.org. Click the red “email your camper” button on the top right of the page. All you need to know is the first and last name of the StPLC camper. Write a short note. That’s it! Mila P., and Drew B. are at camp June 16-22. Ava P. is at camp June 16-19. If you wish to verify last names, just reach out to Ms. Mary mpratt@stplc.org.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD WITH AN StPLC GOOGLE REVIEW!
