Ministry Profile: Saint Peter Scholarship Committee

Saint Peter’s Scholarship Committee was organized and funded in 2014 to provide one-time education scholarships to active participants in our church community. In all, eight $500 scholarships have been awarded.

The process is not limited to youth headed to college. The committee encourages people of any age, with a clear educational plan, and who have been strong and positive role models in both the Saint Peter church family and the community at-large, to apply. The application process requires a completed application form (you can get your application here), an essay, personal references and a face-to-face interview with the StPLC Scholarship Committee.

Applications are due in the spring each year - this year’s due date is Sunday, April 28th. Scholarship recipients are announced after all of the interviews have been completed, typically in June or July.

Pastor Dave, Ken Gerhart and Lori Williams have been scholarship committee members since the committee's inception, and continue to lead this ministry in an effort to grow the scholarship fund, encourage qualified applicants to apply, and identify recipients. The scholarship fund was initially created from money anonymously donated, a portion of which was offered for this specific purpose by the Church Council, and has since received additional donations. It is the committee’s hope to do additional fundraising in 2019 as well as recruit additional members to the committee. If you are interested in donating, joining the committee or applying for a $500 scholarship, please reach out to Ken or Lori.
