2020 Faith Formation Opportunities

Sunday morning 9:40 a.m. Faith Forum is on break until January 5th and will then start a new series using Brian McLaren’s book, The Great Spiritual Migration: How the World’s Largest Religion Is Seeking a Better Way to Be Christian. McLaren is a leading voice in contemporary religion. He rejects the idea that the Christian faith is dying. Instead, he says, it is embarking on a shift with enormous promise for us and our planet.

Saint Peter’s 21-Day Prayer Challenge is beginning again after the New Year. The challenge will be accessed through a password-protected section of the Saint Peter website with five defined daily challenges for you to complete. You will be led through the challenge by an audio guide from start to finish. Are you ready to dedicate 10 to 20 minutes a day to enhance your prayer practice? Sign up on the Narthex door or contact Jeanne Maloney.

A new Contemplative Practice Small Group will begin meeting every third Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. - January 18th, February 8th, February 29th, March 21st, April 11th, May 2nd and May 23rd. This is an opportunity to contemplate deeply on the content of Fr. Richard Rohr’s book The Universal Christ. Participants will engage in group work, pair sharing and solo reflection using several contemplative practices. Sign up on the Narthex door or contact Jeanne Maloney.

Faith Table Talks will resume Wednesday, January 8th, by exploring a new topic: The Refugee Crisis. The group will share a meal beginning at 6:00 p.m., move into a discussion and wrap up by 7:30 p.m. in time for participants to join the Jubilate Choir rehearsal (if need be). The class will once again use the Sparkhouse curriculum, Dialogue On, which includes a short essay reading and video each week to spark the conversation. The group will be limited to 30 participants to ensure easy, comfortable conversation in a judgment-free environment where opinions are heard and respected as we all grow closer in community and in Christ.
