June 16 Evening Prayer, A Service of Racial Healing
In observance of the ELCA’s Commemoration of the Emanuel Nine, Saint Peter’s Faith in Action team will co-host a service of racial healing during Evening Prayer on Wednesday, June 16 at 7:00 p.m.
Well-meaning Christians too often want to skip over the hard work of healing and move right into reconciliation. Before we can be reconciled we need to lament and confess. Lament isn’t about fixing anything, rather it is about giving voice to the pain, suffering, and injustice that are all too common in our world. Acknowledging the pain is difficult but necessary to allow for a true confession. We know that through Christ’s grace we are forgiven but when we hold ourselves accountable, forgiveness is transformational and not just transactional. Transformation leads to healing which frees us for meaningful repentance and ultimately reconciliation.
Please join us on the 16th as we lament, confess and receive forgiveness of our individual and community participation in racial injustices. Through this process of healing our hearts might be opened to true repentance and reconciliation.

NEW! Saturdays — Parking lot Saturday Evening Eucharist at 6:30 p.m.
Sundays — Online Worship at 9:30 a.m.

The documentary follows the story of when a white supremacist gunman took the lives of nine members of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. It is a poignant story of justice and faith, love and hate, examining the healing power of forgiveness. Through intimate interviews with survivors and family members who were left to grapple with this senseless act of terror, the feature weaves the history of race relations in Charleston, the significance and impact of Mother Emanuel Church, and the hope that somehow emerges in the aftermath. In June, we will be providing Chicken and Egg Salad sandwiches with the fixings for our Third Saturday meal at The Delores Project. The sign-up sheet is available here. Please have your items to Annie's by 10 a.m. on June 19th for an on-time lunch delivery. We appreciate your continued support of this ministry. If you are unable to provide part of the meal but would like to donate funds, please follow this link to Vanco and select the Delores Project designated fund.
We would also like to let you know of an outdoor get-together that we are planning for July. On the week of our third Saturday meal on July 17th, we will be hosting a Church Chicks outdoor Tie-dye Design Class and Salad Potluck Lunch. Please sign-up for this event in advance, and if all of our slots fill up we will consider hosting a second class and potluck.
Saint Peter’s 2021 Summer Day Camp
Monday - Thursday, July 12-15
Theme: “Taking It Down the Mountain”
Friends and members of Saint Peter Lutheran Church, three years old through those who have completed the fifth grade, are invited to join us for this summer’s Day Camp. Our friends from Rainbow Trail will be on hand to lead us through four fantastic days of Sondance, Bible Study, Music, Recreation, Arts and Crafts, Devotions, Rest, Lunch, and a Closing Celebration. Middle School and High School students are invited to apply to serve as Day Camp Volunteers for the week.
The theme for this summer’s camp is “Taking It Down the Mountain!” (written by a team of Rocky Mountain Synod Pastors, including our own Pastor Dave). During this week we’ll be exploring how our faith can be nurtured not just while we are together at Day Camp, but throughout the entire year. Each day will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue through 3:00 p.m. Our preschool friends will finish up at 11:30 a.m. A closing program will take place on Thursday evening.
This year, campers are asked to register on the Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp website: https://forms.gle/AYMy8TkkSiGgwhku8. Rainbow Trail will be in touch with instructions about how to prepare for Day Camp, including instructions regarding daily health checks during the week leading up to July 12th.

The digital copy will be helpful for the live links to some of the activities and videos, which include crafts, a meditation and those great Sunday School skits from the Strezo family. On pages two and three following the BINGO card, you’ll find detailed instructions and bonus questions, too.
The BINGO activities are wide-ranging and simple--fun for all ages. Seriously, you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy the game, and to be eligible for prizes! You have until August 31st to complete the game. We will celebrate our BINGO accomplishments at the StPLC Fall Rally Day (details TBD).

Covenant Cupboard Needs Drivers
Have extra time on your hands? Covenant Cupboard could use some substitute pick-up drivers on occasion and also is looking for someone to bring fresh produce from Silo Park to CCFP on Tuesdays in a few weeks during the growing season. If interested, contact Laura Guthals.
Update on May 23rd All Congregation Meeting
Thank you to everyone who attended the May 23rd All-Congregation Meeting that allowed us to vote on purchasing a new HVAC system for the Saint Peter building. We are now able to replace three out of seven aging HVAC units to avoid costly repairs. We will also be adding seven bipolar ionization systems to the new and existing HVAC units to make Saint Peter a safer place to worship. The contract has been submitted to Tolin Mechanical, and we are awaiting confirmation of our order. We will keep you apprised of the schedule as we move forward.
