Then, the next day on Sunday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m., Pastor Mike and Pastor Michael Mortvedt will share the responsibilities of Worship together in honor of Pastor Michael's last day at StPLC. A reception for Pastor Michael will follow. If you are interested in assisting with one or both receptions, please reach out to the church office.
April 22 Is Property Day
The StPLC Property Team has scheduled a cleanup day for April 22 from 9-noon. We would appreciate the congregation's help with numerous projects including mulch to spread, rabbit brush to trim, needles to rake, flower beds to weed and litter to pick up. Our biggest priority is cleaning the entrance doors and windows throughout the building.
Everyone is welcome. If you would like to help, please bring rags, paper towels and window cleaner. If you have a special project you would like to do, please let us know and how we could help. Please contact Dave Prichard with questions.
RESOURCES ON GUN VIOLENCE AVAILABLE
In light of the very difficult trend in mass shootings, Saint Peter’s Stephen Ministers and Family Ministries leader, Mary Pratt, want to remind you that they are available to speak with you and your family about processing tragedies such as these. Ms. Mary also has a variety of books, articles and resources to share if they might be helpful. Reach out by email (mpratt@stplc.org) or stop her in the hallway when you see her.
A PRAYER OF LAMENT BY PASTOR MICHAEL
Based on Psalm 13
How long, O Lord?
How long shall I have perplexity in my mind, and grief in my heart, day after day?
Be present with those who grieve this day with suffering beyond words.
Bend our hearts to your will, beyond complacency and resignation, to a righteous anger for the loss of innocent lives.
Move us to action beyond the paralysis of analysis.
Give courage to our elected leaders to act with compassion and wisdom beyond partisan talking points.
Embolden us beyond our prayers and good thoughts to seek justice for all your children.
How long, O Lord?
How long shall I have perplexity in my mind, and grief in my heart, day after day?
IN NEED OF A WORSHIP SERVANT COORDINATOR
For every Worship Service at StPLC, we need a few volunteers to make things run smoothly. From hosts to readers to singers, it takes a team to Worship the way we Lutherans enjoy. Currently, church staff wrangles the volunteers, but we would LOVE some support from the congregation to help with the job. If you are interested in serving one time or interested in coordinating some or all Worship Services, reach out to Sara Lancaster.
PLEASE REVIEW your entry in the DRAFT PHOTO DIRECTORY
If you are onsite for Worship, stop by the Narthex table under the television to peruse the forthcoming church directory. Please check that your photo and contact information are all correct before we “go to print” in a couple of weeks. You can mark any changes needed with the provided pencils. Thank you!
BLESSING BAGS FOR THE UNHOUSED
Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed. Proverbs 19:17
Family Ministries will continue to collect bottled water, new warm socks, soft energy bars, Chapstick as well as travel-size sunscreen, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and soap throughout the month of April. Items will be used as part of “Blessing Bags” to be given when we encounter others needing life-giving supplies. Drop off your items in the box near the Family Ministries Info Board or the outside bin – and say a little prayer for our unhoused friends when you do!
SHARE WITH MS. MARY WHAT YOU DID THIS LENT
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. ll Corinthians 9:6
Now that Lent is about over, remember to turn in your calendar to Ms. Mary’s mailbox with your name on it. There is a surprise for everyone who participated in this spiritual practice of praying for others and giving to others. Well done to all who participated at any level. What you practice now can become a habit!
