PASTORAL CARE
If you want reliable and empathetic pastoral guidance or simply a listening ear, please reach out to Pastor Vera to arrange a time to talk. Stephen Ministers are also available for compassionate and confidential care.
WELCOME NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS!
On March 10, new Council members Jody Hinsey, Terri Mohrhaus and Chris Vogelsong joined returning Council members Cathy Dundon, Steve Haigh, Robyn Glaser, Gerry Rasel, and Steve Leighton. They will be examples of faith, active in love, and will help maintain the life and harmony of this congregation. A huge thank you for the service of the outgoing Council members: Jim Bunke, Allison Summerton, and Shawn O’Keefe. Thank you to all the faithful folks who are willing to hold positions of leadership and trust in this congregation. We appreciate the work that you do! Have questions or suggestions? Please reach out to council@stplc.org.
THE BAPTISM OF ANDREA MAE SCHWAB
On Sunday, March 10, we were blessed to celebrate with Andrea Mae Schwab as she was welcomed into the faith and hope that we share through the waters of baptism. Andrea was presented for the sacrament by her parents, Ryan and Paige Schwab, by her Grandparents Jeff and Karne Beighle and Patrick and Patricia Schwab, and her great grandmother Penney Schwab. Welcome to our family of faith, Andrea, and to the promises of Christ. “You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever.”
SOUP’S ON! COME TO SOUP SUPPER (WEDNESDAYS THROUGH 3/20 AT 6PM)
ALLELUIA STICKS ARE BACK!
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth” (Psalm 100:1). We have a Team of Volunteers working to make sure everyone who would like to shake an ALLELUIA STICK can do so on Easter Vigil as well as Easter Sunday! If you can find the one you had 2 years ago, dust it off and bring it to church for both worship opportunities: March 30 and 31! After the 10:45 a.m. Easter service, everyone is welcome to take one home! Let’s make a joyful noise together as we celebrate the Risen Christ!
GET TO KNOW SAINT PETER
Introduce yourself! Get to know the stories and histories of the faces you see on Sunday. Send Arielle (awilson@stplc.org) pictures and a few trivia pieces, and you might be featured in an upcoming newsletter. Make connections and start conversations with your Saint Peter community!
FIRST COMMUNION INSTRUCTION - MARCH 20, 4-5:30 P.M.
Is your child curious about receiving Communion? Do they have an age appropriate understanding of what Jesus did on the cross and why? Are they able to read along and explain in their own words what this symbolic act of remembrance means to them? If you and your child are interested in learning more about this sacred tradition, plan to attend First Communion Instruction with Pastor Vera and Ms. Mary on Wednesday, March 20 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
BLANKETS FOR THE GATHERING PLACE
Thank you to Jenn Stenbak and Jody Hinsey for sharing their expertise at the Women & Wealth Event at StPLC on March 1st. We completed a total of 32 Crib Blankets and collected an amazing amount of hygiene products for The Gathering Place, a local non-profit that provides basic necessities and care to women and children experiencing homelessness. These blankets will offer warmth and comfort to those managing challenging circumstances.
BEAUTIFUL, BOUNTIFUL BLESSING BOWLS!
Sunday Funday kids finished their Blessing Bowls! They are now beautifully painted. Blessing Bowls are a clay container to hold our prayers, sacred symbols, names of people, water/oil for blessing, favorite scripture, pictures, journaling, reminders of Jesus and God and much more. Ask a youth how they plan to use their Blessing Bowl at home. You may be inspired to create one of your own, or one for someone else.
FAMILY MINISTRIES GOES GLOBAL
Saint Peter is participating in the Lutheran World Relief’s “A Season of Hope.” We will assemble Personal Care Kits for distribution. Last year, 123,920 Personal Care Kits were delivered to 13 countries through LWR! You can help put God’s love into action for those across the world who are suffering. Our Sunday Funday kids will collect items each week and assemble complete kits for delivery through LWR.
FIRST FRIDAY FUN STARTS APRIL 5!
OTHER WAYS TO HELP COVENANT CUPBOARD:
Monetary donations to CCFP are always welcome. Your donations help maintain a robust pantry for folks who face food insecurity and hardship – we serve new families each week! You can write a check to Saint Peter with “Covenant Cupboard” or “CCFP” in the memo line, or make it out directly to Covenant Cupboard. The food pantry is an independent 501(C)3 nonprofit.
Support CCFP by shopping at King Soopers/City Market! Obtain a loyalty card from King Soopers/City Market and go online (www.kingsoopers.com). Set up your account, select “My Account” and “Community Rewards.” Enter DC406 to select Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry. As your designated nonprofit, CCFP will receive part of the proceeds from your purchases. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to join you in supporting CCFP when they shop!
We love to give books to the children who visit the food pantry! Do you have new or gently used picture books for infants and toddlers? Contact Laura Guthals or Terri Mohrhaus if you have books to donate.
CCFP serves between 150-200 families a week, many of whom are new to the pantry, or new to the country. This service is vital and life-changing. Thank you for your help!
