AN INVITATION TO A HEALING SERVICE

“LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me” (John 30:2).

During St. Peter’s regular worship time on November 10, we will be offering a Healing Service. As individuals, a congregation, citizens, neighbors and as a global community, many are having a variety experiences of pain, hurt, fear, brokenness, and darkness: A scary diagnosis, broken relationships, emotional distress, mental illness, physical challenges and other experiences that bring tears to our eyes, our hearts to break and our spirits to tremble. In all these experiences and more, God desires for us to know the healing power of God’s presence.

As we gather for worship, we gather as broken, vulnerable, eager and faithful Children of God, trusting in God’s faithfulness. We gather seeking healing for all that breaks us apart. We gather, even in our brokenness, to worship together, the one who invites all “who are weary and carrying heavy burdens.” And with God’s help, may we find rest.

BE PART OF THE FALL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL

"A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great" (Proverbs 18:16 NIV).

Given that Saint Peter Lutheran Church has spent the past few years in transition, we see this fall’s Stewardship Appeal as an opportunity for renewal. For starting again with an eye toward the gifts God has given us. Inspired by the 2024 Transition Team’s spiritual gifts chart in the Narthex, the Stewardship Team is asking all of us at Saint Peter to consider how God is calling us to use our gifts in 2025.

Last Sunday, you heard from longtime StPLC Member Bruce Stokes about his experience teaching Sunday School over the years. He also invited us to dream. How can Saint Peter lean into our strong spiritual gifts of service, hospitality, music, and faith to enhance our church’s Faith Formation offerings?

This next week, you will receive a commitment card and a letter in your mailbox outlining the Stewardship Team’s goals for the 2025 Gifted to Give Appeal. Please take the time to review and join us on Sunday, November 17th for Commitment Sunday. If you would prefer to complete an online form, please come to www.stplc.org/stewardship to confidentially inform the Financial Secretary know about your 2025 giving plans.

This is an invitation for you to participate and to support the ministry happening through StPLC. Please prayerfully consider how God is calling you to live more fully into Saint Peter’s gifts.

Sincerely,

The Stewardship Team (Cathy Dundon, Angie Kleberger, Sara Lancaster, Lynn Sherpe, and Pastor Michael TeKrony)

TRANSITION TEAM UPDATE: WHERE WE’VE BEEN, WHO WE ARE, AND WHERE GOD IS CALLING US

Thank you for your faithful participation in the Congregational Reflections! The Transition Team has been listening carefully and carefully discerning what you have shared. The Transition Team's original arc of actions was to listen to you as we reflected on Saint Peter's past, present and future. We discussed the "wilderness" and "rivers" of your Saint Peter experience. We took an inventory of our God-given passions and gifts. We reflected on our core values and pondered how God is calling us to live out those values as we faithfully serve, enthusiastically welcome all, and vibrantly worship. Thank you for your vulnerability, your self reflection and your creativity!

As we listened to you, we have discerned that the work of the Transition Team during the previous transition is still valuable and that many of the results of their work are pertinent today with Saint Peter. Now, the Transition Team will glean from all that you have shared, along with much of the valuable work of the previous Transition Team and begin to form this information into a report that will be utilized to complete Saint Peter's new Ministry Site Profile (the congregation's resume that will be utilized for the purpose of calling the next pastor).

If you have anything else that you would like to share, please connect with Pastor Michael or a team member, or email transitionteam@stplc.org.

We ask that you continue to keep the Transition Team in your prayers as they continue to prayerfully and faithfully attend to this important task on behalf of the congregation. Thank you!

SAVE YOUR POP TOPS

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a "home away from home" for many folks with hospitalized children. The Pop Tab Recycling Program is an easy way to support this valuable resource. Simply pull off your beverage can tabs or soup tops (anything with a pull tab!) and bring them to church! We will collect them in a large jar in the narthex for delivery and recycling.
