The Delores Project July 20th - TOMORROW
The Saint Peter Church Chicks will be serving lunch at The Delores Project on July 20th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those volunteering to prepare the meal arrive at 10:00. Usually, we carpool from the church. Annie will provide the ingredients, but would love to have help with preparation.
Blood Drive at Saint Peter August 3rd
The next Interfaith Blood Drive will be held at Saint Peter from 8:15 a.m. til 11:45 a.m. To schedule an appointment, contact Vitalant at 303-363-2300 or visit donors.bonfils.org and use site code E026.
StPLC Property Cleanup Day August 3rd
Please join the StPLC Property Team for a lawn cleanup day on Saturday, August 3rd from 8:00 a.m. until noon. We will be trimming shrubs, clearing weeds, and preparing flower beds to plant in September. Tools are needed so please bring wheel barrows, loppers, hand trimmers, shovels, rakes and brooms if you’ve got them. A big thanks to everyone who has helped us in the past. It's our hope that this will be another fruitful day!
Christ In The City Ministry Profile
Several Saint Peter members have participated in a Christ in the City lunch event in Downtown Denver. It’s an opportunity to connect with people who are homeless in a way we think Jesus would have done.
Unlike other soup kitchens or similar outreach organizations, Christ in the City volunteers have the opportunity to learn about homelessness in our area, serve lunch and then engage with others in Lincoln Memorial Park, where the event takes place every Wednesday and second Saturday of the month at 12:00 p.m.
Over 300 people are fed at any given lunch in Denver. If you are interested in volunteering, it’s easy. Just visit https://christinthecity.org/ to reserve your spot and sign the necessary waivers.
There will be a group from Saint Peter attending the August 10th lunch. If you have questions or are interested, reach out to Jeanne Maloney or Mary Pratt here at Saint Peter.
Additional Time & Talent Test Drive Opportunities
After the Stewardship Team’s Time & Talent Loving Joyfully Appeal wrapped up on June 5th, a few more ministry test-drive opportunities have popped up. It is never too late to give a project or committee a trial run before you commit longterm. If you are interested in a test drive of any of the below, please contact Deb Paul.
WORSHIP COORDINATORS
Don’t like to stand in front of a crowd? Work behind the scenes to organize all worship servants on Sunday mornings. This helps to ensure a rich worship experience.
“GOD’S WORK. OUR HANDS.” PLANNING COMMITTEE
Every September for the last several years, Saint Peter (and many other ELCA congregations) have participated in an all-hands-on-deck community service event. Help out the planning committee this summer as they decide which community service areas we will focus on as a group.
8:00 A.M. WORSHIP SERVICE SETUP/BREAKDOWN
Services on the labyrinth are relaxed and beautiful, a great way to start the week. However, it does take some effort to put up tents, chairs and other equipment. Ideally, we would have one or two individuals responsible for overseeing that process and recruiting help. Could it be you?
Dress for Success Donations
The Church Chicks organize the monthly Dress for Success professional clothing drive here at Saint Peter. (You may have noticed the clothing rack in the Narthex from time to time.) The ladies would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has donated in the past. This month was the biggest donation yet!
If you have gently used work clothes for ladies who are just starting their careers, please plan to add the items to the rack between Sunday, July 28th and Saturday, August 10th. Clothes should be on hangers and accessories in bags.
Ask Pastor Dave
As part of the "Ask Pastor Dave" series on the StPLC blog, a parishioner wrote in to ask... I'm trying to read the Old Testament which confuses me at times. What do the writers mean when they say "tore clothes"? I've seen it written a few times. To see Pastor Dave’s response, click here. If you have questions you’d like to know the answer to, be sure to ask Pastor Dave!
Summer Break for All-Ministry Team Night
The July and August All-Ministry Team Nights are canceled to accommodate busy summer schedules. Ministry groups are encouraged to meet on their own these next couple months and to attend the first meeting of the program year on September 5th at 7:00 p.m. These evenings are a helpful way for Saint Peter Ministry Teams to coordinate efforts and to bring StPLC activities to the next level. Please mark your calendars and make it a priority for the 2019-2020 year.
