Faith Forum Is Back Starting Next Sunday

Starting the Sunday after Easter, Faith Forum will take place at 10:30 a.m. on the same zoom link we use for worship. Our discussion will be based on Rob Bell’s book Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived. When the book was released it was quite controversial and made many Christians uncomfortable, some even accused Bell of being a Universalist.

As has become the tradition of Faith Forum, the participants may not agree with everything that the author has to say or even with one another, and that is ok. This is an opportunity to seriously engage in tough questions about reconciling God’s love and God’s judgment.

Please order a copy of the book (it is available on Amazon) or download it to your favorite device and join the conversation. If you haven’t had a chance to join Faith Forum before, a special invitation goes out to you.

Easter Season Book Study Beginning April 23rd

Let’s take a journey together during the season of Easter into Jesus’ last week prior to his crucifixion using as our guide Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan’s book, The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus’ Final Days in Jerusalem.  Borg and Crossan dig into Mark’s account of Jesus’ life with a day-by-day account of the week leading up to Easter, including insights into the political and spiritual dynamics of Jesus’ true passion – his message of the Kingdom of God.

The study will take place online Thursday evenings beginning April 23rd and will be led by Walt Meyer and Jeanne Maloney.  If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to Jeanne Maloney. You can get the book on Amazon.

Generosity During Quarantine

Doing something from your home to show generosity to others? Let the Saint Peter staff know so we can share it in our Weekly.

Tiny Houses for Habitat for Humanity - The need for safe and affordable housing hasn't gone away just because in-person builds are cancelled for the next month or two! Please help raise money for Habitat by supporting the Hass family’s "tiny house" build.

Make Masks at Home - Kaiser Permanente is making it easy to sew and donate masks. You can find a video tutorial here https://youtu.be/4aMCFnK5bHk. When you are ready to ship them off, request a prepaid shipping label by emailing email KPCO-Supply-Chain-Logistics@kp.org. If you could use some personal (via phone or email that is) assistance, contact Saint Peter member Vicky Simpson. She is part of a group called “Sew It For COVID” that is making gowns and masks that are going to nursing homes among other places.

Donate Food - Covenant Cupboard is in need of 33-gallon black trash bags, nut butters, protein soups and fruit, cash donations and Friday volunteers.

Apply For The $500 StPLC Scholarship

Saint Peter Lutheran Church will be offering a $500 scholarship in the spring of 2020. You do not need to be a current high school senior or even a recent graduate to apply; any individual who is continuing his or her education in a formalized or accredited education program is eligible.

Take a Break With Rainbow Trail

Camp is always a nice place to go for a little God and a little fun. Rainbow Trail and Sky Ranch have come together to offer an afternoon devotional. They are doing it live at 3:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday on the Rocky Mountain Synod Facebook page. Past episodes are also available on the Facebook page to watch anytime.

Continued Giving To StPLC

During these times when we are unable to gather, our ministry expenses remain constant. If you are able to support the work of Saint Peter, we would be deeply grateful. Most banks will set up automatic payments free of charge or you can make contributions through Vanco, Saint Peter’s vendor for payment processing. Visit the StPLC home page or follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/donatetosaintpeter. To avoid high credit card processing fees paid by Saint Peter, please consider giving by check. The echeck process is easy and cost-effective!
