One Last Anniversary Celebration This Sunday!

It’s our 40th anniversary as a church! This coming Sunday is the final week of our three-week celebration, and we will take time to look at building our future together. During worship, Bishop Gonia will join us to reflect on the future of the church community. Additionally…

  • If you have special prayers for the future of Saint Peter and our members, please send those to Allison Summerton. These will be shared during the Prayer of God’s People.

  • There are special anniversary hats and visors available if you would like one. Stop by the church building and pick one up from the bin outside the fellowship hall doors. Then, wear yours on Zoom this Sunday and we’ll take a moment to “tip our hats to StPLC.”

One final thing: Last Sunday, Brooke Tieperman introduced the time capsule. If you would like to donate an item to the time capsule to reflects the “present” time at Saint Peter, please be sure to let Brooke know. The time capsule will be sealed at a later date when we can all be together.

Mark And Linda Jacobson Documentary Premiere April 24th

For 38 years, Mark and Linda Jacobson have worked in the health field in Tanzania, becoming our church’s longest-serving missionaries. In partnership with Tanzanian leaders, they’ve developed the Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre, started the Widow’s Might craft project and more. Their powerful story is featured in the new documentary Kuambatana, which means accompaniment in Kiswahili. The 30-minute video will premiere on the ELCA Facebook page on Saturday, April 24, 11 a.m. central time.

The word “kuambatana” means accompaniment. ELCA missionaries serve at the invitation of global companions to meet specific community needs. They are pastors, educators, advisers, doctors, communication specialists and more. Working in a spirit of accompaniment, they walk together with our companions and follow their lead.

Faith Forum Series On Women Of The Bible

Yesterday, we began a five-week Faith Forum series on the role of women in the Bible.  Join us following worship every Sunday on Zoom as we continue to examine these stories deeply. We'll also explore the portrayal of females in the Old Testament, which until recently has been presented as quite one-dimensional. Often they are actually shown to be integral figures in the development of the nation of Israel. The Biblical accounts reveal perspectives on God's involvement with the Israelites as well as portrayals of human freedom, strength and failure. What might the stories of these women reveal about contemporary life, issues, and faith? We'll discuss it all!

Family Ministries: Women Of The Bible And Where To Find Weekly Messages

For the next four weeks during the Faith Forum hour, the adults will be learning about women in the Bible. During the Children’s Message, the kids will, too! Plus, many of Saint Peter’s youth will be storytellers!  Here’s our schedule of the selected women and themes:

  • April 18 - Esther, Full of Courage (click the link to see last week’s children’s message)

  • April 25 - Deborah, A Strong Leader

  • May 2 - Ruth, Loyal

  • May 9 - Mary Magdalene, Faithful

  • May 16 - Mary, Mother of God, Trusting

Join us as we learn about these strong women of faith, as told by our own strong youth of faith!  At the end of each skit, you will hear from one of our kids who will apply the message to their life experience.

If you miss a lesson, never fear! From now on you can find the video for the latest Children’s Message at www.stplc.org/family-ministries. And thanks to all who have shared photos of their seedlings. Here we have the Glaser kiddos with their strawberries and sunflowers, Jackie Skiles’ sunflowers and Janet Weinz’s basil!
