Annual Easter Vigil Begins Good Friday at 9 p.m.

Saint Peter has a long tradition of continuous prayer from the end of Good Friday worship through Easter morning. It is as important as ever that we come together as a community of faith to pray for one another, our community and our world. Just as Jesus invited his disciples to pray and watch with him the night before he was arrested (Matthew 26), you are invited to join in a vigil of prayer at Saint Peter.

Instead of being in the building, we will conduct this year’s Prayer Vigil virtually through Zoom. Please sign up for your hour-long time-slot here. The Prayer Vigil is an opportunity to spend one hour alone in prayer in a sacred space with God. And, it is a time to participate in something bigger than yourself as you complete the chain of prayer with other Saint Peter friends. You will receive a list of prayer intentions from the Saint Peter community to lift up during your time of prayer. The Contemplative Ministries team is also providing prayers and meditations that you may choose to use during the Prayer Vigil. This is your time and you are welcomed to spend the hour however best suits you.

The prayer resources and Zoom link will be sent to you after you sign up. If you have any prayer requests you would like to be prayed for during the Prayer Vigil that is not currently on Saint Peter’s prayer list, please send them through Saint Peter’s website at https://www.stplc.org/member-resources If you have any questions, please contact Jeanne Maloney.

How To Create A Sacred Space At Home

For over a year, we have been absent from the familiar worship and study spaces at Saint Peter due to the pandemic. As adaptable and resilient people of God, we have settled into couches, carved out desk space and figured out Zoom settings in order to participate in online worship, prayer and meditation. Holy Week 2021 brings us full circle to the start of this forced absence, and so it feels appropriate to re-examine the spaces we have created in our homes. Palm Sunday and Easter Family Ministries News

Miss Mary has explored all the items in the Lent-In-A-Bag, but there’s still more fun to be had on Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday and at home these next couple of weeks. Here’s what the kids can look forward to:

  • Sometime this week, all families with young children will receive a Holy Week Devotional in the mail!  If you don’t get one and would like one, let Miss Mary know or stop by the Saint Peter building and look for Miss Mary’s bin outside the fellowship hall entrance. Open the lid and grab one of your own (pictured above).

  • This coming Sunday (March 28th), we will talk about the Resurrection Eggs that all the kids received with their Lent-In-A-Bag materials. We will open a few during the children’s message and the rest during Sunday School.

  • Don’t forget to make and bring your Alleluia Sticks to Saint Peter’s Easter celebration online! If you don’t have time to make your own, there are a few in Miss Mary’s bin along with those devotionals.

The Strezo family is taking a short break from Sunday School so Miss Mary will be filling in the next two weeks. Be sure to visit www.stpc.org/sunday-school on Sundays after worship for the latest.

Now You Can Watch Worship On YouTube Live

The Tech Team has instituted a new streaming software that allows us to broadcast each week’s worship service in real-time on YouTube. Now you can celebrate with Saint Peter from your mobile device or on your smart TV through the YouTube app. Of course, you can still log in to participate via Zoom or Facebook Live like you’ve been doing, too. You have choices!

If YouTube is your preference, visit the StPLC channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFL-JqMk_BHZilXIAFxFRRQ or go to YouTube.com and search for “Saint Peter Lutheran Church Greenwood Village.” While you’re there, be sure to “subscribe.” That’ll make it easier to find our videos in the future.
