Welcome Dr. Molla

With Pastor Dave on vacation through November, you will see some new faces on Sunday mornings, including this Sunday when Dr. Rode Molla will preside over both the 8:00 a.m. in-person service and the 10:30 a.m. online service. Here is an introduction from her:

My name is Rode Molla; I am originally from Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, I served in Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus as a Full-time minister in the congregation, Child Development Project director, and Children and Youth Minister in the National Office of the Church. Mekane Yesus is a Lutheran church in Ethiopia.

After moving to the United States, I worked as a youth minister, resident chaplain, teacher, and graduate student leader.

I received a Bachelor of Theology from Mekane Yesus Seminary, Master of Arts from Luther Seminary, Master of Theology from Western Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Philosophy from the Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver Joint Doctoral Program in the Study of Religion.

The Rocky Mountain Synod candidacy committee recently approved me for ordination. And  I am praying,  waiting,  and discerning for a call to serve God and God’s people.

I am  married to Endrias Assen and a mother to Halleta Endrias.

Be Part Of The ‘Care For Creation’ Conversation

The fall semester Faith Forum is focused on a series entitled, "Earthbound; Created + Called to Care for Creation.” So far, we have explored:

  • God’s call for us to live as caretakers of creation

  • The differences between pantheism vs panentheism. In Greek, pan means "all," theos means "god," and en means "in." Pantheism means that all is God; panentheism, that all is in God.

  • What “dominion over” really means in Genesis

Participants of all ages are welcome either in-person in the Fellowship Hall or online via Zoom at 9:00 a.m. Please note that the Zoom link for Faith Forum is different from the Worship Zoom link. Use this link to access the video and discussion.

Honoring Veterans Next Sunday, November 14th, During Worship And Faith Forum Hour

Join the Faith in Action team in honoring our veterans next Sunday, November 14, during both worship services and the Faith Forum hour. Vicky Daub of the Veteran Service Corps Project (VSCP) will be with us to talk about her work and how congregations like ours can support the men and women who have served in the military.

And…if you or someone you know is a veteran, please send an email at fia@stplc.org and let us know. We’d love to recognize you in that week’s newsletter.

Adventfest Is Coming!

Save the date! Saint Peter’s Family Ministries is hosting Adventfest in the church building on Saturday, November 27th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. We are still ironing out the details, but you are sure to leave the event that day with full bellies and a full heart. More info in next week’s newsletter.

If You Aren’t In A LIFT Group, You Can Still Participate At Home

Small intergenerational groups are meeting all around town and people of all ages are discovering the fun of building community through our shared faith, in homes and at Saint Peter!  Even if you are not part of a formal group, you can still participate!

Access the user-friendly “Study Guide” including the major parts of each LIFT session at www.stplc.org/family-ministries. There you’ll find a link for each session including Family Stories, Friends Breakfast, Family Forgiveness, and Serving Others. You will need to use the code “StPLCgroups” to access the copyrighted materials. You may also pick up printed Study Guides in the outside bin at the east entrance.

November Church Chicks News

This month, Church Chicks is planning to gather in person at Panera Bread on Ulster on the patio for coffee on the 13th at 9:30 a.m. Annie will have the Dress for Success clothes in her car, so if you have additional items to donate, please bring them with you to coffee, and they will be delivered just after.

For our Third Saturday Meal for The Delores Project for the 20th, we’re asking for donations so we can purchase a hot meal on the day and deliver it to our neighbors. Please mark your donation for The Delores Project if you are mailing a check to the church, or you can visit www.stplc.org/donate and give via Vanco.

On the 27th, we'll have our Virtual Coffee hour at 9:00 a.m. on Annie’s Zoom.

Connection Center Updates

If you attend in-person worship, check your mailbox for your NEW NAMETAG. If it's not there, check again next week. (The new printer takes a while and we are printing in batches.) If you notice a typo, lose your nametag or would like to request one for a family member or guest, please reach out to Sara Lancaster.

Take a look on the Narthex walls, too! You can now find a lot of ministry materials and Saint Peter goodies in one place.
