Look What We’ve Done. Imagine What We’ll Do. Fall Stewardship Appeal Begins October 17.

It has been an unprecedented nineteen months since Saint Peter moved its ministries to an online format. But our congregation has been far from idle. We have seen extraordinary growth in our worship life, in our ministries with young people and their families, in deepening relationships between participants, and in preparing our facilities for what comes next.

Our hopes for 2022 are to build on these beginnings and take some strong strides forward as a congregation. With your support and participation, we’ll take worship, youth ministries, small groups, and care for our facility far beyond where we have ever gone before.

The theme for this Fall’s appeal is “Look what we’ve done; Imagine what we’ll do.” Between October 17 and September 7, we’ll outline the specific ways we plan to grow in these ministry areas. Then, on November 14, we’ll make our commitment to a new year together.

Be sure to join us for worship during these five weeks. Let’s make 2022 one of our best years ever!

Your 2022 Stewardship Team: Darlene Beals, Jim Bunke, Pastor Dave Risendal, President Bruce Stokes.

Help One Afghan Family Cover The Cost Of Rent

Have you been wondering what you can do to help out the families that are fleeing Afghanistan and arriving in America looking for safety and a new start?

The Saint Peter Lutheran Church Faith In Action team is partnering up with Lutheran Family Services to help in the resettlement of our Afghanistan neighbors in the Denver Metro area.  We will be assigned one family to help welcome and provide assistance as they get settled. As a co-sponsor, we will get an opportunity to get to know the family and form a friendship with them.

There are many ways you can help and we will be sending out more information in the coming weeks. Our first big need is to raise up to $10,000 to help the family with rent while the family looks for employment. Currently, many of the families arriving from Afghanistan will not qualify for any federal or local financial assistance. If you are interested in providing a financial donation for the family assigned to Saint Peter, please visit the Vanco link at the bottom of StPLC.org and indicate “Afghan family” in the other field.

Thanks for considering how you can be a part of this effort at Saint Peter and please be on the lookout for additional ways you can help. If you have questions, contact Jeanne Maloney.

Covenant Cupboard Christmas Toy Drive

Saint Peter will once again be participating in the Covenant Cupboard Christmas Toy Drive that will be taking place on December 3 and 10 at Saint Peter. This year’s drive will be set up as a store for parents, like in years past. Last year was different because of COVID.

Families will be able to select from donated toys that we display in the fellowship hall. You may adopt one child or several children and provide a gift based on the age and gender of the child. When you sign up, you agree to provide that child or children in the family with a new toy valued between $25.00 and $40.00.

You may also donate new books for a child. Each child will receive a book in addition to the gift selected by their parent. This can be a single donation or in addition to a gift of toys.

In addition to the toys and books the children receive, families will receive stockings for each child that include age-appropriate stocking stuffers. Should you wish to help with this project or donate money towards the stuffers, please contact Linda O’Bryan at lindamobryan@yahoo.com.

We are looking for volunteers to help us on the days of the toy drive, December 3 and December 10. We will need people to help with setting up and cleanup, and shopping assistants for parents on the two shopping days. We may even need babysitters and gift wrappers, if COVID rates remain low. If you are interested, please contact Shelly Hunter or Vicky Simpson.

We intend to have SignUp Genius operational by mid-October, so you may select your child and start shopping! If are you not comfortable using SignUp Genius, you can contact Shelly Hunter or Vicky Simpson who can sign up for you.

Thank you on behalf of Covenant Cupboard Toy Distribution co-chairs Vicky Simpson, Linda O’Bryan, and Shelly Hunter.

Faith In Action’s Focus On The Environment: Plant A Tree

Because when it comes to protecting the climate, trees are the real OGs, and planting them has consistently ranked as the #1 climate change solution. That’s because trees help clean the air, stabilize the soil, protect biodiversity, offset carbon, and so much more.
